Maris Otter was originally bred in 1965 to meet the need for a high quality brewing malt, though it eventually fell out of style, with higher-yielding varieties taking its place.Although the barley was perhaps not as widely used as before, some very clever people made sure to secure the future of Maris Otter, allowing producers to continue to use this high quality malt for their tasty ales... and for whisky, too!. 46% ABV.
